Six Degrees from Killing Brian by Avril Maria Serene is a well-written investigative journalist yarn about a reporter tracking down the killer of two prostitutes. The plot is appropriately convoluted, and the pacing is good. The main protagonist, Debra Ann Wynn, is portrayed in a compelling manner, particular her own history and the motivation behind her investigation. The world-building is good, and the narrative brisk, but full of interesting details. With the setting in San Diego, there is plenty of room for vivid background. This is a good read and will be a pleasure for those who enjoy investigative journalist mysteries.
